I had started studying Ethiopia for some time, it was a long time since we wanted to visit this country so rich in history and culture.
Ethiopia is a unique country, it is a crossroad of cultures, a bridge between Sub-Saharian Africa, North Africa and the Middle East

Here we are! Tomorrow we leave to Ethiopia!
This is a journey that we have long wanted and that we have studied in detail and now it is time to pack and leave!
What to pack for a trip to Ethiopia
Ethiopia Visa
To enter Ethiopia it is necessary to get a visa that can be obtained in two ways: online or upon arrival at the Bole airport in Addis Ababa.
As soon as you get off the plane you arrive in the area of the airport where you get the visa; there are two different areas: one for those who must apply for a visa on arrival and the other for those who have already applied for a visa online.

Today is the big day! We leave to Ethiopia!
Our flight leaves from Malpensa and, as we have been doing it for some time now, we decide to go to the airport by our car.
we leave from home a little early, today is a working day and you never know how the traffic on the A8 Milano Varese could be.
Fortunately we do not find much traffic and in a short time we arrive at Malpensa, we park in our favorite parking lot and go to the airport by their shuttle.

At 11.00 pm we landed in Addis Ababa, at the international Bole airport; first of all we are going to attend to the immigration procedures, luckily we have requested the visa online, because there is a discreet queue; but the queue of online visas runs faster.

We are in Ethiopia, to be precise at Addis Abeba; we have so much desired this journey and it is finally about to begin!
This morning we woke up at 7.00 am and went down to have breakfast; there was a very rich buffet but we were not very hungry, we ate some fruit, yogurt, some sweets and then we drink a nice coffee; we are in the country of origin of coffee and we are curious to try it, even if, to try the real Ethiopian coffee, we will have to attend a coffee ceremony.

We are at Lalibela, Ethiopia, we flew in from Addis Abeba this morning; we arrived in town that was lunch time so we went to the hotel, so we even checked in and left our luggage.
We had an appointment with our guide at 2.30 pm and so after lunch, to pass the time, we looked at the small shop at the reception; it has beautiful handicrafts, especially the crosses attract our attention.

We are in Ethiopia, at Lalibela, this town, located at 2600 meters above sea level, houses some of the most important and impressive architectural and historical jewels of the Sub-Saharian Africa: the churches carved into the rock.

We are at Lalibela in Ethiopia and today was dedicated to visiting the churches carved into the rock; we had many expectations and I have to admit that they have been largely overcome.
We had seen several photographs of these churches, but they definitely do not do any justice to this architectural masterpiece.
After breakfast we left by car, we are excited because we are finally here!

Today we return to Addis Abeba!
We are in Ethiopia, at Lalibela; this morning we woke up early, we had breakfast on the terrace, challenging the fresh air of the early morning, but we wanted to enjoy this view for the last time before leaving.
After breakfast we check out and then we leave; it takes about an hour by car to reach the airport, a few minutes less if you use an off-road vehicle.
