At 11.00 pm we landed in Addis Ababa, at the international Bole airport; first of all we are going to attend to the immigration procedures, luckily we have requested the visa online, because there is a discreet queue; but the queue of online visas runs faster.
Immediately afterwards we go to collect the baggage, that in the meantime have already arrived, we load them onto the trolley and, before leaving the airport, we withdraw some cash from one of the many ATMs; we usually withdraw at the ATM rather than change at the exchange office, we prefer to keep the cash in Euro and US Dollars to use during the trip, where we are not sure to find a working ATM.
We leave the airport and there is our transfer waiting for us, it is just past midnight and we go straight to the hotel that, fortunately, is very close to the airport.
It is a beautiful hotel and it also seems new, most likely it will be the most beautiful of the whole trip and therefore, even if we stay here only tonight, we enjoy it a little bit; but we will return here even when we are back from Lalibela, again for a night.
We remove the bare essential for the night from our bags and go to sleep, tomorrow we have to get up pretty early.
