Our Qatar Airline flight arrived in perfect time at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg; every time we land in Africa for us it is a very strong emotion, the feeling is to be back home.
We have been away from Johannesburg Airport for a few years, the last time it was when we went to Zambia, while since last time in South Africa it has been a while, many things have happened in the meantime and we are very curious to find out how things have changed, if they have changed.
We pass through the immigration for Italians, as for the rest of Europe it does not require any visa, and then we go to pick up our luggage; considering the past experiences I always have a bit of anxiety that they do not arrive, this time in particular because in addition to the clothes, we also have several things we bought to set up the car.
Luckily they arrive immediately, escaped danger and what a relief!
Before we leave the airport we exchange the money, so we have some Rand, as always at the airport the exchange rate is not the best, but we cannot leave without any cash.
To wait outside the airport there is a Bushlore bus with a nice guy who, we do not know how, recognizes us without ever having seen us before, what a mystery!
After about half an hour on the road, we arrive at their HQ, where, they will tell us later, they have about 200 off-road vehicles, of different models, for hiring; but we did not rent the car, we bought it!
