This morning we woke up at the eMshopi camp, in the uMkhuze Game Reserve, South Africa; yesterday we spent a wonderful day in this reserve, that amazed us with its spectacular nature, but it is already time to leave, we continue our exploration of the area of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

We have breakfast, then we prepare our Dr. Livingstone and then we leave; the eMshopi gate is located 500 meters from the campsite, we go out and continue along the dirt road that ventures between the villages and the cultivated fields, it is less scenic than the one we traveled the other day, but it is still beautiful.

The dirt road leads us to the main road, that is obviously paved and in perfect condition, and this allows us to proceed at a faster speed up to the detour to the St Lucia Lake.

From here we enter the Western section of the St. Lucia Lake, last time we were here this area had suffered heavy consequences due to the action of man: the St. Lucia Lake was practically dried up, due to the exploitation of its waters and its ecosystem was heavily threatened.

Thanks to the work done in recent years and the commitment of local communities, water has returned to the St. Lucia Lake, for the benefit of the animals and the vegetation that grows here.

We have many expectations and we cannot wait to visit this area in the coming days.
