These Plains are characterized by a combination of habitats. As a matter of fact, both grasslands and a forested area are present, and the overlapping of these two habitats makes it so that much more animals live here than in other areas of the Serengeti National Park.

There are elephants, giraffes, buffalos and two packs of lions. During the green season it is possible to sight many migratory birds coming here from Europe, such as storks.

These Plains include a secret gem. It is known as “Kusini Crater”. It is not an actual volcanic crater, but a circular shaped grassland surrounded by a forest of Acacias. It is home to a high concentration of animals, even cheetahs.

This is a remote area of the Park and few visitors venture here, making safaris in the Kusini Plains even more special.
