Our Lufthansa flight landed in Nairobi at 9:20 pm on time, being in transit through Kenya we do not need any visa, so we quickly pass the checks and go to collect our suitcases that have arrived intact, thankfully.

We are at Malpensa Airport and our Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt leaves at 8.00 am, in perfect time, after that before take-off they went to put the antifreeze on the wings, something quite common in winter.

Once at altitude, we enjoy the spectacle of our snow-covered Alps; we have seen them hundreds of times, but we are always enchanted to admire them and we can prevent ourselves from taking some pictures with our smartphone.

This morning we woke up when it was still dark, as time this is more a safari schedule than a Milanese timetable; well on one hand this is good because we are already getting used to the rhythms of the savannah!

In fact, only for our beloved Africa we can wake up so early J

At 5.00 in the morning we leave the house and, with our car, we head to Malpensa; at this time the cold is pungent, thank goodness that travelling by car we feel it less.

Ready! - Photo Credits: Romina Facchi

After months spent planning and, above all, dreaming of this journey, finally the moment has arrived: tomorrow we leave!

Our destination this time is the North of Tanzania, Tanzania is a country that we love so much and that we consider one of the best destinations on the African continent for safaris, given the high concentration of animals.

The new president Mnangagwa, who succeeded the deposed Robert Mugabe, announced that Zimbabwe will no longer accept the trade of live elephants and other endangered species of animals.

The statement follows a report from the Zimbabwean Daily News and, above all, after the worldwide protest that occurred at the end of last year, when Zimbabwe was guilty of selling 34 small elephants to China.

The ban also extends to endangered species such as rhinos, lions and pangolins.

The red dunes of Sahara Desert for a day changed themselves and became soft and white dunes thanks to an expected snowfall.

In the last 40 years it was recorded only three snowfalls in all Sahara Desert; the pictures of there events are amazing and extraordinary.

The Algerian town of Ain Sefra, known as “the Door of Desert” was interested by the snowfall, so it immediately became world famous, thanks to the shooted photos of the orange dunes striped with the white of the snow.

OR Tambo Johannesburg

Today we leave, we return to Milan with a lot of sadness in the heart, because we would like to stay here.

We handed our car to the long-term parking caretaker who keeps it until the next round, so we're ready to get in the airport with all of our luggage.

Queuing at Qatar's check-in there is no one, so we deliver the suitcases, take the tickets, and go to the control.

There are a few people, but the queue runs fast and luckily they did not open all luggage as it often happens.

At Johannesburg Airport, we meet with a person from Klipkop, the long-term parking that keeps our car in our absence at 5.00pm at Terminal A.

The guy is a couple of minutes late and we take the opportunity to unload the car of all our luggage and arrange all the items we leave here, such as extensions, lights, car adaptor, thermic bottles and other things.

When the guy arrives, we give him the keys, he gets on and goes away with our car; what an infinite sadness, now for a while we will not see it and we will not silt on the slopes.
