Torrential downpours cause severe flooding in Tanzania, the unusually heavy seasonal rains have caused widespread problems everywhere in East Africa.

The worst floods in Tanzania are recorded along the North coast where most of the infrastructure has been damaged and Dar es Salaam is flooded and isolated.

To give an idea of the situation in Dar es Salaam in just one day more than 170 mm of rain fell, the heaviest rain since the statistics began, the seasonal average does not exceed 80 mm.

The torrential rains have caused many car accidents and many roads will remain closed for some time.

In the video you can see below the situation in the village of Mto wa mbu, near the Tarangire and Manyara Lake national parks, the latter was closed due to the impracticability of the streets.

Even in Namibia the rainy season shows no sign of ending, the Kunene River is at its maximum levels until it floods in Kaokoland and excessive rainfall has forced the Ruacana dam to open to avoid disastrous consequences.

On the contrary, in Botswana and South Africa the situation is exactly the opposite.

In Botswana the Boteti river has little water and the basins are below average, in South Africa, in Cape Town the situation is at the limit even if it seems that the "dreaded day zero", that is the closing day of the city's taps, is averted .

In any case, the situation in the region remains problematic and the water basins that supply the city remain in dramatic conditions.
