Flying Lufthansa

We are at Malpensa Airport and our Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt leaves at 8.00 am, in perfect time, after that before take-off they went to put the antifreeze on the wings, something quite common in winter.

Once at altitude, we enjoy the spectacle of our snow-covered Alps; we have seen them hundreds of times, but we are always enchanted to admire them and we can prevent ourselves from taking some pictures with our smartphone.

On board they offer us some coffee and, instead of the usual fake biscuits that they usually give on the plane, we get a very good American cookie, well done Lufthansa!

We land in Frankfurt after about an hour of flight and we have less than two hours of transit, but now we know this airport well because, flying often by Lufthansa, we have been here many times; so we know perfectly where to go.

We follow the directions for our terminal and we pass the controls for the exit from Europe; here they are all automatic: you have to scan the passport on a special reader, once scanned, you open a first glass door and on the second there is a cam, which projects its image on a tablet-like surface and takes a picture, as if it was a selfie; at that point the second door opens and you go to the counter of the border policemen who could decide to make a further check or you can proceed directly on your own itinerary.

We go to our gate and, while we wait for it to open for boarding, we have time to drink a coffee.

When boarding starts, we get on board; flying in Premium Economy, they embark you immediately after the Business Class and before the Economy.

It is not the first time we fly by Premium Economy with Lufthansa, we have already gone to China two years ago and, on certain routes, it is a good compromise between quality and price, because you have wider spaces, you can sleep more comfortably, the food has a superior quality and also the service is better.

At 11.10 am our plane detaches from the finger and goes to the runway where it takes off.

What a beautiful feeling leaving behind the cold, work, problems and the only thought that we are going to our beloved Africa, makes us happy.

Once at altitude we get lunch, very good, as well as the red wine they serve to us.

After lunch we watch a movie from the immense library of board entertainment and then read a bit, it is a truly relaxing trip and we enjoy it; despite this we cannot wait to get to the destination. :-)

Before landing we get a light dinner, a very good Caprese.

Lufthansa remains one of our favorite airlines and this trip has confirmed it for the umpteenth time.
