Today we went to visit the West Coast National Park in Langebaan.

This park is mainly visited in the months of August and September, since here you can see the blossoming of wild flowers; but it is a very nice park that, in my opinion, deserves to be visited all year round.

There are no predatory animals, therefore, in addition to the car, it is possible to ride it on motorbike and mountain bike as well as walking along some trails.

It is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, and the whole Western part of the park is a coastal stretch made of enormous and wild white beaches and high rocks on which the mighty waves crash; the rest of the park faces an inner bay, here the waters are softer, but the landscapes are just as spectacular.

This morning we left Clanwilliam and arrived at the entrance to the park around 10.00 am; we walked in and started on the only way to visit the Eastern part of the park.

We stopped several times to photograph the wild flowers until we got to the detour that leads to the restaurant; we continue and arrive at a junction: on the left it continues for the South gate of the park, while on the right it ascends along the Western side, that is on a narrow fence between the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay.

The views are spectacular and we have not yet reached the top of the peninsula, where there is Tsaarsbank

In the Northern part of the peninsula there are three picnic areas, one overlooking the lagoon and two on the ocean; we decide to go to one of the two that have a crazy view of the ocean and its waves and we also find a table.

We sit here and admire the power of the waves and the seagulls flying low on the water in search of food; the air is bracing and we feel the salt on the skin of the face.

If you want, you can even get off at the beach, there are people bathing in the water, but it's not easy with those waves, you need to be expert swimmers.

After lunch we head to the Postberg Section, this area is characterized by having the lower bushes and flowering meadows during the blossoming period, and here, thanks to the greater visibility, it is easier to spot the animals and in fact we see several ostriches, the oryxes , the elands, the bonteboks and the Cape mountain zebras.

We get to the bottom of the peninsula and then, driving calmly, we go back and take the road that leads to the South gate and we leave the park; tonight we sleep in Cape Town and we want to get there in the light.

Although the blossoming of wild flowers is not at its utmost splendor, we remain admired by the beauty of these colorful expanses where the animals browse; it's really a wonderful park and we wonder why so few people come to visit it, it is only 140 km from Cape Town, and there are also accommodations for the night in the park.
