We are in Botswana and yesterday we finished the mobile safari at the Moremi Game Reserve and at the Chobe National Park, our friends left while we are continuing our journey and tonight we are near Gweta at Planet Baobab, finally I would add!

We love the Planet Baobab, as well as being a well-organized lodge and campsite with large common areas, a swimming pool, a cozy lounge and the fire that creates an African atmosphere in the evening, it is also a historical place for travelers.

The Planet Baobab evokes the memory of journeys on the road of the past, when the roads were only dirt roads, when only paper maps and the compass were used, when the journey was a discovery and an adventure not planned in advance but lived and managed at the moment, perhaps with many unexpected and wonderful surprises to tell other travelers in the evening by the fire, drinking a beer or a glass of wine.

This time we stop at the Planet Baobab only one night unfortunately and while transfering, we wanted to come here also on the way in, when we stopped at Gweta two nights, but we could not book and we were forced to go to the Gweta Lodge, experience that we would not like to repeat, at least for camping, we keep the benefit of the doubt for the lodge.

But let's not think about it now we are here at our Planet Baobab and so we can enjoy its atmosphere for this evening.

We arrived just before sunset, in our plans we should have arrived a little earlier but this morning at Kasane we spent more time than we imagined but it was inevitable since we had a series of things to do that we couldn't avoid, like shopping for the next few days, when we will be in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

We check-in at the reception and then we go to the pitch that they assigned us, all the areas of the campground are large and are equipped with a braai, a power point and a straw roof that looks like the roof of a traditional hut and it is ideal to position the table, chairs and armchairs under it.

We position ourselves, prepare our Dr. Livingstone for the night and realize that we do not really want to cook tonight, we are a little tired and we want to relax a bit, we also have the next five days in which we will be forced to cook, so we decide to treat ourselves well and go to the restaurant.

We walk all the dirt path that leads to the central area of the Planet Baobab, all the paths are lit with oil lamps with a slightly retro charm; their yellowish light creates a cozy and almost romantic atmosphere and illuminates the large baobabs that grew here centuries or millennia ago.

We arrive where the pool is, but we ignore it and continue and go to the lounge, sit on a sofa and take two beers as an aperitif; we order two St. Louis, a light blonde beer they produce here in Botswana.

We enjoy the lounge, it's just us that is wonderful; we get lost looking at the photos and posters of other times that make a fine show hanging almost everywhere under the big straw roof of the structure.

When we have almost finished our beer, they come to call us, our restaurant table is ready; the cuisine here at the Planet Baobab is quite simple but the meat is always very good, so we already know what to order.

After dinner we go and sit around the fire and talk about the mobile safari that has just ended and all the wonders we have seen but we also plan the days that starting tomorrow we will spend in the Kalahari and we wonder what the CKGR will reserve for us.

This is the worthy conclusion of today: the fire, the baobabs illuminated by the light of the lamps and the sand under our feet; we enjoy the moment, but we are also looking forward to tomorrow morning to start a new adventure of this wonderful journey.
