The Luo are a very large ethnic group living in Kenya, they occupy the neighboring region of the Victoria Lake; the former President of the United States of America Barack Obama is undoubtedly the most famous member of this group.

Skilled fishermen, they exploit the frozen waters of the nearby Victoria Lake, originally they were breeders and then farmers, as farming allowed them to obtain constant crops, thanks to the climate of the region characterized by regular rains throughout the year.

Rites and ceremonies are of great importance in the life of the Luo communities, especially marriage and funerals involving complicated ceremonies and rites and numerous rules to follow.
