This morning we were at Savuti, an area of the Chobe National Park in Botswana; after having silted ourselves and made a super sighting of the North Pride with two lionesses, a male lion and six cubs, we left for the Chobe Riverfront where we will spend the last two nights of this mobile safari with our friends.

We leave from the Ghoha Gate and drive all the way to the North East, here there is not much to see, it is just a transfer.

When we arrive at Kachikauwe take a brief stop, here is a small place and a shop that sells some basic foodstuffs and also some souvenirs; we take the opportunity to have a coffee break or drink something fresh; we needed a little stop.

Shortly after we leave, we pass by Kavimba and Mabele and arrive at the Ngoma Gate when it is lunch time; we enter from this gate that constitutes the Western entrance of the Chobe Riverfront and we take the sandy track that leads to the Chobe River.

We stop at a shady place and have lunch, this is the last picnic we do in the wild with our friends and we enjoy it even more; after lunch we leave to explore the riverside of the Chobe National Park.

We immediately notice that even in the Chobe river there is little water, it looks like a trickle compared to its usual size, this year's drought has also affected it.

Along the river we spot many birds, especially herons and storks, but also geese, kingfishers, bee-eaters and eagles; we also see different species of antelope such as the sable, the roan, the puku, the waterbuck, in addition to the inevitable impalas and kudus.

We also meet several herds of elephants that are drinking or being covered up in sand, giraffes eating from the tops of the trees and buffaloes that are always looking for water.

At a certain point we also see some lions but they are lying in the bushes, maybe it is still a little too early and they are still hot, so they remain in the shade; we will come back later unless we make more interesting encounters.

As we drive along the track that runs parallel to the Chobe River we see several elephants, there are so many, we see that the water is permanent here; the Chobe also marks the border between Botswana and Namibia but it is not possible to go from one side to the other of the river remaining in the park, one must pass the border between Botswana and Namibia at Ngoma.

We arrive up to Serondela, here we meet other cars, they are the ones that come in the day from Kasane or they are those of the only lodge that is inside the Chobe National Park on the Botswana side.

We get out of the car and take a walk, this is one of the favorite places for visitors to admire the sunset with the sun reflected in the waters of the Chobe river and to have a drink.

We get back in the car and leave again, we go back to the part where we arrived and then we drive towards the sunset that is particularly beautiful tonight: the colors are warm and intense, almost like a painting.

At one point on the riverfront we see two beautiful lions, a male and a female, that are obviously in love; they walk together and at certain moments seem to look at each other romantically.

The lioness actually seems interested also in hunting a giraffe, while the male lion seems interested only in one thing ...

We observe them a bit but then we must continue, the time has now come to go to our camp and the areas dedicated to the camps for mobile safari operators are located a little away from the river, so we must go into the bush until we reach our camp.

It is always nice to arrive at the camp at dusk and be captivated by the lights of lamps and candles, it is a bit of a safari atmosphere of other times and it is spectacular.
