We are at Johannesburg, South Africa, we spent three days here to prepare our car, Dr. Livingstone, for the journey, to do the shopping, at least for the first few days, but also to go to the Fourways Farmers Market, where we have spent a pleasant day with live music, friendly people and delicious street food.

Now we feel at home at Jozi and we have the feeling that the days we spend here are like the days we spend in Milan before the departure for a trip, when we pack our bags, even if we have fun preparing our car and discovering new corners of the city.

Today, however, the day of our departure has finally come for our road trip: we were looking forward, we are too happy!

We have breakfast at the hotel, the idea is to make a sort of brunch, even if it is 7.30 in the morning, and then not to stop for lunch or, at least, have a quick snack.

After breakfast we take down our bags and let our friend from Zimbabwe help us, he is one of the luggage guys who remembered us from last year and, when we checked in, he greeted us as if we were his brothers.

We load Dr. Livingstone with all the last things we had in the room, we check out and then we leave!

Google suggests us to take the highway to Pretoria and then head West and we follow it, with other roads, highways and ring roads we would take more time, we don't know if for traffic or anything, but we don’t care we follow Google and we do faster.

Although it is Monday we do not find traffic, luckily because in the past we happened to get stuck in traffic.

After Pretoria the road passes from 5 to 3 lanes and, after a while to 2; this is an unmistakable sign that we are moving away from the inhabited centers and we are heading towards nature.

The journey continues calmly and we enjoy the view; when we are near the Pilanesberg National Park we stop by a gas station, actually the only one in the area, to fill up; gas stations in South Africa are often small service towns where, in addition to refueling, one can shop or eat at one of the fast food restaurants.

We buy two soft drinks, pay over 100 liters of diesel and then we're ready to go; we are South of the Pilanerberg and here there are 2 entrances to the park: the Bakubung Gate and the Kwa Maritane Gate; we have decided to enter from the Bakubung Gate.

Finally our safaris begin!
